Privacy Policy

Last Updated:

Axis is developed and operated by the Axis team (“Axis,” “we,” or “us”). This notice covers our app, website, separate account-based web services, and support. For privacy questions or requests, contact hello@myaxis.app.

1. Information we process

The current app: works without an account, stores training preferences on your device, and provides or generates gym information and plans locally. It does not currently upload your training preferences or workout records, or send app usage analytics to Axis.

Website and support: when you visit our website, technical information such as IP address, browser details, request times, and server logs may be processed for delivery and security. Cookies or local storage may support sign-in and preferences. If you contact us, we receive your email, message, and attachments.

Separate web accounts: if you use account-based web features, they process your registration email, password-based authentication, account ID, username, settings, and training information, including optional free-text notes, saved plans, and logged workouts. Social features also process friend requests, friendships, and invitation links. These features are separate from the current app.

As features become available: we may collect and process the following information, depending on the services and choices you use. Listing a category does not mean the current app collects it:

  • Account and service information: contact details, usernames, authentication information, generated account or installation IDs, settings, and sync records.
  • Training information: selected gyms, goals, experience, availability, plans, exercises, sets, repetitions, weights, session dates, and progress.
  • Usage and diagnostics: app opens, sessions, feature interactions, timestamps, app/device versions, and error or crash information.
  • Gym contributions: equipment records, floor plans, corrections, photos, and gym-management contact information you submit.

We may associate records using pseudonyms, including generated account or installation identifiers.

2. How we use information

Where the relevant features are available, we use account and training information to provide, personalize, save, and sync requested features. We use contributions to maintain gym catalogs and correspondence to provide support. If we introduce usage analytics, we will use activity information to understand feature use and measure active and returning use. Usage and diagnostics may also help us test and improve features and reliability. We may process relevant information for security, misuse prevention, research and development within these purposes, and legal obligations.

We may develop, change, or discontinue features and their technical implementation. Collection remains limited to information relevant to the services and purposes described here, with any required notices, permissions, and consent.

3. Service providers and disclosures

We may select or change providers for hosting, storage, authentication, syncing, communications, analytics, diagnostics, security, and feature-specific processing. Providers acting on our behalf receive relevant information to perform their services and must provide protections equivalent to this notice and applicable requirements.

For a feature using third-party AI, we will explain the recipient, information shared, and purpose, and obtain required permission before transmission. Gym contributions intended for a shared catalog may be visible to others as explained in the relevant feature.

If you use the separate web account service, signed-in users can search usernames and receive suggestions indicating whether they share a gym. Your username and count of workouts completed in the past seven days may appear on all-user, gym, or friends leaderboards. Leaderboard visibility defaults to on and can be turned off in Account settings. Friend requests and friendships are visible to the people involved; redeeming an invitation link creates a friendship. Leaderboards show counts, not individual workout sets.

Independently operated linked or integrated services also have their own terms and privacy policies. This notice continues to govern Axis's handling of information. We may disclose information for legal requirements, protection of rights and safety, or a business transfer subject to appropriate safeguards.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not permit providers to use private health or fitness information for independent advertising.

4. Retention and deletion

Local app data remains on your device until changed or removed. Deleting the app ordinarily removes it; offloading may preserve it, and Apple-managed backups may retain copies. We cannot access or erase information held only on your device.

Account and service records are retained while needed to provide the service or maintain the account. Support and security records are retained as needed to resolve requests, investigate issues, prevent misuse, or meet legal obligations. We delete information when no longer needed, subject to lawful retention and ordinary backup cycles.

Contact us to request deletion of information we hold, including older web accounts. When accounts become available in the app, you will be able to initiate account deletion in the app.

5. Your choices and rights

Before introducing optional collection that requires consent, including app usage analytics, we will request that consent and provide accessible withdrawal controls without restricting unrelated features. Device settings also control access to protected resources. Withdrawal stops future processing based on that consent. You can separately request deletion as described above.

Depending on applicable law, you may request access, correction, deletion, portability, or limits on processing, or complain to a privacy regulator. Email us to make a request. We may verify your identity and explain any applicable exceptions.

6. Security and international processing

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards; no system is completely secure. Providers may process information in countries other than your own. We apply transfer safeguards where required by applicable law.

7. Younger users

Users under 18 may use Axis. The current app works locally as described above. Where New York's Child Data Protection Act applies, processing a 13–17-year-old user's personal information requires their consent unless it is strictly necessary for a purpose the law permits. Covered online collection from children under 13 requires parent notices and verifiable parental consent under COPPA. Before introducing online collection from minors, we will provide the applicable notices and consent controls.

Where COPPA applies, a parent may contact us to review or delete a child's personal information, or refuse further collection or use. Contact us about any suspected improper collection.

8. Changes to this notice

We may revise this notice as Axis evolves. We may change features, systems, or providers within the practices described here without individual notice for each change. Revisions will be published here with an updated date. We provide additional notice or obtain consent when required before the relevant changes take effect.
